I like the footer for https://www.w3schools.com/ because it's simple but give you a lot of information, or links to information that you MIGHT need to know. It has links to different policies to the website. It also had a link to their web certificates that they offer. For my own footer for Cathy's Homemade Goodies, I plan on doing something a little more average. I'd give credit to the original owners of the place. It's not like I'm trying to steal an entire business from somebody. I might put a link to the other business that Cathy is associated with. Thinking of putting links to the other pages of the website in the footer as well, so people don't have to scroll all the way back to the top.
Using pixel font sizes is very similar to using a font size in Microsoft word. For example, a font size of 15 in Word is about 15 pixels. Ems are best practice for web design because it works better with more browsers than pixels do, like in Internet Explorer (A.K.A. Trash ;D). 70px would be about 4.375 ems, 36px is about 2.25 ems, and 10px is about .625 ems. Above is an example of using ems instead of pixels. The four link states are link, visited, hover, and active. To remember them, think of them as LoVe and HAte. Below is an example of the four link states being used. "WEB DESIGN ROCKS!" in yellow, centered Link to website without underline Name in Heading 3 with overline on it Text Transformation When it comes to web fonts and system fonts, you want to use web fonts. This is because system fonts are pre-loaded onto the system, but not all systems have the same set of fonts pre-loaded. This can cause issues. Web fonts, you can get online anywhere, which will be much easier if you're trying to get a certain look for your website. For body text, you should be using sans-serif fonts. These are fonts that don't have the extra detail added to each of the letters. These fonts are usually considered to be much easier to read by the population. For titles, headings, and/or subheadings, you can use serif fonts.
Left: Code before running Right: Code after running ID and Class Selector The three ways CSS can be entered is External Styling Sheets, Internal Styling Sheets, and Inline Styling. We will be using Internal Styling Sheets the most.
When it comes down to it with résumés, keep it simple. Don't make anything so large that it overpowers the page, and all the other information. Make the names of schools you've gone to and businesses you've worked at bigger and more noticeable than the rest of the text for that section. Don't use any crazy bullet points, just use the regular one dot and done kind of bullet point. Use two different fonts, one for titles of sections, then body text. This makes it easier for interviewers to skim through and pick out the information they are looking for, if it's there.
I've chosen to work on the website for the local ice cream shop called "Cathy's Homemade Goodies". I chose this business because I like ice cream, and the business is local. I ride my back by it almost everyday as well. I just feel like it doesn't do the place any justice. I've been there before and it's a great place to be. I feel that it just needs a total revamp. The first page would be the home page, showing information on how the place came to be. The second page would be the hours the place is open, plus information on how to contact the business. The third page would be the menus showing half of the treats that the place sells. The fourth would be the other half of the menu.
